Matthew 14:15 meaning and explanation

When evening came, the disciples came to Him and said, “This is a desolate place, and the hour is already late. Dismiss the crowds so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.”

Matthew 14:15, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

The disciples speak here as practical men facing a real problem. Jesus has withdrawn to a solitary place after hearing of John the Baptist's death, but the crowds followed Him on foot, and He has spent the day healing their sick.
