Jesus has withdrawn to a hillside near the Sea of Galilee, where a large crowd has stayed with him for three days with nothing to eat. Having said he does not want to send them away hungry, he now tells the crowd to sit down on the ground, preparing them for a meal he will multiply from seven loaves and a few fish.
