Matthew closes the feeding of the four thousand with a quiet departure. Jesus has just fed a crowd that had been with him three days in a desolate place, and now he dismisses them and crosses the Sea of Galilee by boat to the region of Magadan, a place otherwise unknown to us and probably near the western shore.
