And last of all, the woman died.

Matthew 22:27, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

The Sadducees are speaking to Jesus in the temple courts, and they have set up a hypothetical case built on the levirate law of Deuteronomy 25, where a childless widow is married to her husband's brother to preserve the family line. Verse 27 closes the story: after all seven brothers died childless, the woman herself died.
