These are the words of two false witnesses brought before the Sanhedrin, the Jewish ruling council, which had gathered at the high priest Caiaphas's house to find grounds to put Jesus to death. They twist something Jesus had said earlier about his own death and resurrection, turning a claim about his body into a threat against the temple building.
