Matthew 5:10 meaning and explanation
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:10, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Jesus is speaking to His disciples on the mountain, with the crowds listening, near the start of the Sermon on the Mount. This eighth beatitude follows the promise that peacemakers will be called sons of God, and it names a cost: those who suffer because they pursue what is right are still called blessed, not pitied.
