Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them.

Jesus is speaking to His disciples on the mountain, early in the Sermon on the Mount. Having just called them salt and light, He answers a charge He knows will come: that His teaching sets aside the Law of Moses and the Prophets, Israel's Scriptures.
