Micah 3:12 meaning and explanation

Therefore, because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble, and the temple mount a wooded ridge.

Micah 3:12, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Micah has just named the corruption of Jerusalem's leaders, priests and prophets, who judge for bribes and prophesy for money while claiming the LORD is safely among them (verses 9 to 11). Verse 12 is God's verdict through Micah: the city and temple they built on bloodshed will be dismantled so completely that Zion becomes a plowed field and the temple mount a wooded ridge.
