Micah 5:8 meaning and explanation

Then the remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among flocks of sheep, which tramples and tears as it passes through, with no one to rescue them.

Micah 5:8, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Micah has just promised a ruler from Bethlehem who will shepherd God's people securely. Now he pictures the remnant of Jacob, the faithful survivors scattered among many peoples, as a lion among the beasts of the forest, trampling and tearing with no one to rescue the prey.
