Nehemiah 7:44 meaning and explanation
The singers: the descendants of Asaph, 148.
Nehemiah 7:44, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Nehemiah has finished the wall and is organizing Jerusalem's residents, and this verse sits inside the register of families who returned from Babylonian exile. The singers are listed as a distinct group alongside priests, Levites and gatekeepers, and they trace their line to Asaph, a Levite whom the chronicler credits with temple music in the days of David.
