Nehemiah 8:11 meaning and explanation

And the Levites calmed all the people, saying, “Be still, since today is holy. Do not grieve.”

Nehemiah 8:11, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

After the exiles returned and rebuilt Jerusalem's wall, the people gathered at the Water Gate to hear Ezra read the Law aloud, and they wept as they listened.
