Nehemiah 8:16, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
After the exiles returned to Jerusalem, Ezra read the Law aloud and the people found the command to live in booths during the seventh month (Leviticus 23:42). Here they obey, gathering olive, myrtle and palm branches and building these temporary shelters wherever space allowed: on flat rooftops, in courtyards, in the temple court and in the public squares by the Water Gate and the Gate of Ephraim.
