Numbers 1:54 meaning and explanation
Thus the Israelites did everything just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
Numbers 1:54, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
This closing line reports that Israel carried out the census exactly as the LORD had instructed Moses in the Wilderness of Sinai, in the second year after the exodus from Egypt. Every tribe was counted, the twelve leaders assisted Moses and Aaron, and the Levites were set apart to guard the tabernacle rather than serve in the army.
