Numbers 19:12 meaning and explanation
He must purify himself with the water on the third day and on the seventh day; then he will be clean. But if he does not purify himself on the third and seventh days, he will not be clean.

The LORD is speaking to Moses and Aaron, and through them to Israel, about the water of purification made from the ashes of the red heifer. Anyone who touched a corpse contracted a serious uncleanness that barred him from the sanctuary.
