These were the clans of Simeon, and there were 22,200 men.
Numbers 26:14, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
This verse closes the census of the tribe of Simeon, taken by Moses and Eleazar on the plains of Moab just before Israel entered Canaan. The count of 22,200 men twenty years old and older is far smaller than the 59,300 recorded for Simeon in the earlier census at Sinai (Numbers 1:23), a steep decline that many readers connect with the plague at Peor and the rebellion narratives nearby.
