Numbers 31:14 meaning and explanation
But Moses was angry with the officers of the army—the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds—who were returning from the battle.
Numbers 31:14, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Moses is speaking to the army's commanders after Israel's campaign against Midian, the nation whose women had drawn Israel into idolatry at Peor (Numbers 25). The officers had returned victorious, but Moses was angry because they had spared the Midianite women, whom he saw as the very instrument of that earlier unfaithfulness.
