Explanation preview
The LORD is speaking to Moses about the Levites, the tribe set apart for service at the Tent of Meeting. In verse 19 God explains a three way arrangement: the Levites are given as a gift to Aaron and his sons, the priests, and they serve on behalf of the whole congregation, making atonement so that no plague strikes when the people draw near the sanctuary.
