Philemon 1:8 meaning and explanation

Philemon 1:8, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Paul writes as an aged prisoner to Philemon, a believer in whose house the church meets, about Onesimus, Philemon's slave, whom Paul led to faith in prison. In verse 8 Paul says his standing in Christ would give him boldness to command Philemon to do what is proper, since an apostle could claim authority over a congregation.
