Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.

Paul writes to the Philippian church, correcting any idea that he has already arrived spiritually. Though in verses 8 to 11 he expressed deep longing to know Christ and share His resurrection, he insists he has not yet obtained this or been made perfect.
