Philippians 3:2 meaning and explanation
Watch out for those dogs, those workers of evil, those mutilators of the flesh!
Philippians 3:2, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Paul writes to the Philippian church, warning against teachers who insisted Gentile believers must be circumcised to belong to God's people. His three labels are sharp: dogs, a term some Jews used for outsiders, now turned on these teachers; workers of evil, naming their teaching as harmful; and mutilators of the flesh, a play on the Greek katatomē, a cutting, contrasted with peritomē, circumcision.
