Proverbs 20:25 meaning and explanation
It is a trap for a man to dedicate something rashly, only later to reconsider his vows.
Proverbs 20:25, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
This proverb warns against making a sacred promise on impulse and then regretting it once the cost becomes clear. In Israel, a vow was a voluntary but binding pledge, often dedicating property or goods to God, and the law did not release a person simply because he changed his mind.
