Proverbs 23:14 meaning and explanation
Strike him with a rod, and you will deliver his soul from Sheol.
Proverbs 23:14, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
These verses continue a father's instruction to his son in the wisdom tradition of Israel. The rod here is the language of correction, not cruelty: the point is that loving discipline is better than neglect, because it can rescue a child from ruin.
