Proverbs 29:24 meaning and explanation
A partner to a thief hates his own soul; he receives the oath, but does not testify.
Proverbs 29:24, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
This proverb describes a man who joins a thief and then, when a public oath is sworn to uncover the crime, hears the curse or adjuration but gives no testimony. In Israel's legal setting, silence under such an oath made a person complicit and brought guilt on himself, as Leviticus 5:1 shows.
