Proverbs 30:11 meaning and explanation
There is a generation of those who curse their fathers and do not bless their mothers.
Proverbs 30:11, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
These are the words of Agur son of Jakeh, an otherwise unknown speaker, who in verses 11 to 14 describes four kinds of people with the repeated phrase "there is a generation." Here he names those who curse their father and withhold blessing from their mother, reversing the command to honor parents. In Israel's wisdom teaching, contempt for father and mother signaled a deeper rejection of God's order.
