Proverbs 30:16 meaning and explanation
Sheol, the barren womb, land never satisfied with water, and fire that never says, ‘Enough!’
Proverbs 30:16, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Proverbs 30 records the words of Agur, a wisdom teacher who has just described four things that never say "Enough" (verse 15). Verse 16 names them: Sheol, the realm of the dead, which keeps receiving the dead; the barren womb, a grief in a culture where childlessness was deeply felt; parched land that drinks rain and still cracks; and fire that consumes without ever being satisfied.
