Proverbs 4:16 meaning and explanation
For they cannot sleep unless they do evil; they are deprived of slumber until they make someone fall.
Proverbs 4:16, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
In this verse the father, passing on what his own father taught him, describes the wicked whose path he has just told his son to avoid. The point is not that every wrongdoer loses sleep, but that such people are so bent on evil that doing harm becomes a kind of craving, like hunger for bread and thirst for wine in the next verse.
