Proverbs 6:22 meaning and explanation
When you walk, they will guide you; when you lie down, they will watch over you; when you awake, they will speak to you.

Explanation preview
The speaker is a father instructing his son, and "they" refers back to the father's commandment and the mother's teaching in verse 20, which the son is told to bind on his heart and tie around his neck. The point is that parental instruction, once internalized, becomes a constant companion: guiding the son's steps by day, guarding him through the night, and conversing with him when he wakes.
