at twilight, as the day was fading into the dark of the night.

Proverbs 7:9, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

In Proverbs 7 a father warns his son against adultery by telling a story he observed from his window. Verse 9 sets the time: the young man crosses the street near the woman's corner "at twilight, as the day was fading into the dark of the night." The Hebrew pictures the deepening of evening, the point when the day turns to blackness.
