Psalms 1:4 meaning and explanation

Not so the wicked! For they are like chaff driven off by the wind.

Psalms 1:4, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Psalm 1 sets two ways of life side by side, and verse 4 turns from the blessed person to the wicked with a sharp contrast. The image comes from threshing, where grain is beaten and the light husks, the chaff, are tossed into the wind so the grain falls back while the chaff blows away.
