Psalms 103:17 meaning and explanation

But from everlasting to everlasting the loving devotion of the LORD extends to those who fear Him, and His righteousness to their children’s children—

Psalms 103:17, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Psalm 103 is David's song of praise, and in verses 15 and 16 he has just pictured human life as grass and a wildflower that the wind blows away. Verse 17 turns that around: against our briefness stands the chesed of the LORD, His covenant loyal love, which runs "from everlasting to everlasting." The Hebrew word chesed is often translated loving devotion or steadfast love.
