Psalms 18:14 meaning and explanation
He shot His arrows and scattered the foes; He hurled lightning and routed them.
Psalms 18:14, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
David, delivered from Saul and all his enemies, describes the LORD's rescue as a thunderstorm theophany, a visible arrival of God in power. The arrows and lightning are poetic images for God's own weapons, not human warfare; the same imagery of arrows appears in Deuteronomy 32:23 and the lightning in 2 Samuel 22:15, the parallel version of this psalm.
