Psalm 41 is David's prayer from a sickbed, surrounded by enemies and even betrayed by a trusted friend. In verses 1 and 2 he has just declared that God blesses the person who cares for the poor, and verse 3 continues that promise: the LORD himself will sustain the merciful man on his bed of illness and restore him.
