Psalms 44:19 meaning and explanation
But You have crushed us in the lair of jackals; You have covered us with deepest darkness.
Psalms 44:19, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The sons of Korah speak for a defeated nation, addressing God directly. Verses 17 and 18 insist the people have not forgotten God or broken covenant, yet verse 19 says God has crushed them in the lair of jackals, a place of desolation and scavengers, and covered them with deepest darkness, the language of Sheol and abandonment.
