Psalms 48:1 meaning and explanation
A song. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, His holy mountain.
Psalms 48:1, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
This opening verse names the singers, the sons of Korah, a Levitical guild of temple musicians, and sets the psalm's theme: the LORD is great and worthy of praise precisely because He dwells among His people. "The city of our God" and "His holy mountain" both point to Zion, Jerusalem, the place where God chose to put His name and where His temple stood.
