Even Assyria has joined them, lending strength to the sons of Lot. Selah
Psalms 83:8, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Psalm 83 is a communal lament attributed to Asaph, in which God's people cry out against a coalition of surrounding nations plotting to erase Israel's name. Verse 8 adds Assyria to that list, an uncomfortably powerful empire joining the alliance, and notes that it lent strength to the sons of Lot, that is, Moab and Ammon, Lot's descendants (Genesis 19:37-38).
