Psalms 88:3 meaning and explanation
For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draws near to Sheol.
Psalms 88:3, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Psalm 88 is a lament attributed to Heman the Ezrahite, sung by the sons of Korah, and it is unusually dark because it never resolves into praise. In verse 3 the speaker describes his inner life as saturated with troubles, not merely touched by them, and says his life is drawing near to Sheol, the Hebrew word for the grave or the realm of the dead.
