For all our days decline in Your fury; we finish our years with a sigh.
Psalms 90:9, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Psalm 90 is a prayer attributed to Moses, spoken by a man who watched a whole generation die in the wilderness. In verse 9 he draws out the consequence of verses 7 and 8: because God has set human sin before him, the people's days pass under his wrath, and their years end with a sigh, a word for a groan or a moan.
