Psalms 96:8 meaning and explanation

Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; bring an offering and enter His courts.

Psalms 96:8, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Psalm 96 is a call to worship the LORD as King, and verse 8 continues the summons begun in verse 7, addressed to "the families of the nations." The worshippers are told to ascribe glory to the LORD, meaning to give Him the honor His name deserves, and then to bring an offering and come into His courts, the temple precincts where Israel gathered. The Hebrew word for offering here is minchah, a gift or tribute, the kind of present a subject brings before a king.
