Revelation 18:10 meaning and explanation

In fear of her torment, they will stand at a distance and cry out: “Woe, woe to the great city, the mighty city of Babylon! For in a single hour your judgment has come.”

Revelation 18:10, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

In this vision John hears the kings of the earth, who had shared Babylon's luxury and immorality, now standing far off in fear as the city burns. Babylon here is symbolic for the proud, wealthy power that seduced the nations and sheds the blood of God's people.
