Revelation 2:14 meaning and explanation
But I have a few things against you, because some of you hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to place a stumbling block before the Israelites so they would eat food sacrificed to idols and commit sexual immorality.
Revelation 2:14, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
These are the words of the risen Christ to the church in Pergamum, a city where believers lived under pressure and some had already died for the faith. The rebuke draws on Numbers 22 to 25, where Balaam, a prophet hired by King Balak to curse Israel, instead advised a trap: Israelite men were drawn into idol feasts and sexual immorality with Moabite women.
