Romans 11:3 meaning and explanation
“Lord, they have killed Your prophets and torn down Your altars. I am the only one left, and they are seeking my life as well”?
Romans 11:3, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Paul quotes Elijah from 1 Kings 19, where the prophet flees into the wilderness after Mount Carmel, afraid and exhausted, convinced that Israel has abandoned the covenant and that he alone remains faithful while his life is hunted. Paul retells this scene in Romans 11 to show that God has not rejected Israel completely, since the same pattern of a faithful remnant appears in Elijah's day and in Paul's.
