Romans 5:7 meaning and explanation

Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.

Romans 5:7, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Paul is still arguing that Christ died for us while we were powerless and ungodly (verse 6), and verse 7 is a stepping stone in that argument. He grants a human possibility: someone might conceivably die for a genuinely good person, though dying for a merely upright or just person is rare.
