Ruth 4:8 meaning and explanation
So the kinsman-redeemer removed his sandal and said to Boaz, “Buy it for yourself.”
Ruth 4:8, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
At the city gate, with ten elders as witnesses, Boaz has just told the nearer kinsman-redeemer that redeeming Elimelech's land also means taking Ruth the Moabitess and raising up the dead man's name. The man declines, unwilling to jeopardize his own inheritance, and seals the transfer by removing his sandal and handing it over.
