So tell the people that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Return to Me, declares the LORD of Hosts, and I will return to you, says the LORD of Hosts.’

The prophet Zechariah speaks to the returned exiles in Jerusalem in 520 BC, some eighteen years after the return from Babylon. Their fathers had ignored the earlier prophets and gone into exile, and the temple still lay unfinished.
