Zechariah 12 describes a future siege of Jerusalem, when God defends the city and pours out a spirit of grace and prayer on its people, who look on the one they have pierced and mourn bitterly. Verse 14 closes the list of mourners: after the clans of David, Nathan, Levi and Shimei, every remaining clan joins in, each with its wives.
