Zechariah 3:4 meaning and explanation
So the angel said to those standing before him, “Take off his filthy clothes!” Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have removed your iniquity, and I will clothe you with splendid robes.”
Zechariah 3:4, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
In this vision Zechariah sees Joshua the high priest, standing for the returned exiles, while Satan accuses him. Joshua's filthy garments picture guilt, and the command to strip them off is a courtroom act: the accusation is answered by the LORD's own rebuke and his choice of Jerusalem, not by Joshua's merit.
