Zechariah 5:2 meaning and explanation

“What do you see?” asked the angel. “I see a flying scroll,” I replied, “twenty cubits long and ten cubits wide.”

Zechariah 5:2, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

The angel's question draws out what Zechariah sees in his sixth vision: a scroll in flight, its dimensions given as twenty cubits by ten. Those measurements match the size of the tabernacle's holy place and of Solomon's porch, so the scroll evokes the place where God's word was kept and read.
