Zechariah 9:13 meaning and explanation

For I will bend Judah as My bow and fit it with Ephraim. I will rouse your sons, O Zion, against the sons of Greece. I will make you like the sword of a mighty man.

Zechariah 9:13, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

God speaks through Zechariah to a post-exilic Judah, small and vulnerable under Persian rule. The image is of the LORD as a warrior archer: Judah is the bow He bends, Ephraim (the northern tribes) the arrow He fits to it, so the divided people become one weapon in His hand.
