Zephaniah 1:13 meaning and explanation
Their wealth will be plundered and their houses laid waste. They will build houses but not inhabit them, and plant vineyards but never drink their wine.
Zephaniah 1:13, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
These words come from God through the prophet Zephaniah, spoken to Jerusalem in the days of King Josiah, when many in Judah had grown secure and believed God would neither act nor judge. The verse describes the outcome for those "settled in complacency" just before it: wealth seized, homes left empty, and labor wasted.
