1 Chronicles 9:20, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The Chronicler is listing the gatekeepers who served in the restored temple after the exile, and in verse 20 he reaches back to Phinehas, son of Eleazar and grandson of Aaron, to show that this office carried a long and honored pedigree. Phinehas appears in Numbers 25, where his zeal turned aside God's wrath, and in Joshua 22, where he handled a crisis over the altar.
